Sensors networks

The sensors are devices which are used to gather data regarding objects and/or physical processes. The sensors are placed in different environments: outdoor or indoor, underwater, underground and in dangerous or environments with lower accesibility. These devices could locally provide the acquired data or remotely send them. In this last case, the sensor data could be send to a remote survey and control center and also could be displayed in order to perform a real-time monitoring for the interest process. Some of the acquired data processing results could trigger specific actions if the surveyed process is outside the expected range or its parametes exceed some certain thresholds which are previosly established. The communications networks which are used for sensor data transmisssion to the decision and control center could be wired or wireless; their complexity together with the required security measures are different according to the surveyed process significance and size. Currently there are developing a hunge area of sensors networks-based applications. It is expected thar the sensor networks will become crucial for most of the human activity fields. The sensor networks will essentially be used in industry, agriculture, medicine and home-based applications. There are already available a lot of technological advanced in the sensor networks area, with increasing in their robustness and cost-effectiveness, with a longer life time and able to meet the new challenge given by the topology changes and enviromental issues. Also the implementation and exploiting costs should be minimized.
